Embracing Diversity and Innovation: My Journey with 100K Strong in the Americas

Stepping into the world of international exchange programs has been a transformative experience for me. Through the collaboration between Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala and Texas Tech University, as part of the grantee project The 2021 Innovation Fund Grant Competition to Build Partnerships and Training Programs between the United States, Central America, and the Dominican Republic, under the esteemed support of 100K Strong in the Americas, I found myself embarking on a remarkable journey of learning and growth.

Having the chace of participating on the project: “Convergence Research Workshop to Tackle Wicked Problems: A Unified Response to the Contamination of Rio Motagua Basin in Central America“, in TTU’s Campus at Lubbock, TX in June 2022, was a pivotal moment in my academic pursuits.

As a current biology undergraduate working on my thesis, this opportunity broadened my horizons, connecting me with a diverse network of individuals and unveiling a new perspective on addressing complex social-ecological challenges. This experience has not only enriched my academic pursuits but has also ignited a passion within me to explore interdisciplinary studies further. The exposure to the Interdisciplinary Studies M.Sc. program at TTU has inspired me to push boundaries and seek innovative solutions to pressing global issues.

As I reflect on the impact of this exchange program on my personal and professional development, I am compelled to extend a heartfelt invitation to all aspiring learners out there. Embrace the power of diversity, seize the opportunity to collaborate with individuals from varied backgrounds, and immerse yourself in a realm where the fusion of natural and social sciences sparks creativity and drives change.

Join me in advocating for programs like 100K Strong in the Americas, where knowledge knows no boundaries, and possibilities are endless. Let’s embark on a journey of discovery, growth, and transformation together.
