Pachamama Exchange Program: Centering Indigenous Knowledge in the Defense of Human and Nature’s Rights
This project will create a bilateral exchange program between the U.S. and Ecuador that will bring together indigenous environmental and human rights defenders, leaders, scholars, students, and their allies to learn from the indigenous worldviews on nature and the environment to better understand effective methods to combat climate change and preserve human rights. This will launch a partnership between the universities, and indigenous community partners in both Ecuador and the U.S. will be integral to the program. The Sapara Nation in Ecuador will welcome program participants into their community, their leaders serving as teachers, and partnerships with U.S. indigenous nations, scholars, and students will be established during the grant period to support U.S. exchange.
