Training Young Minds to Expand Scientific and Regulatory Food Safety Capacity Between Brazil and the U.S.

The Faculdade SENAI Fatesg, Instituto SENAI de Tecnologia em Alimentos e Bebidas, and North Carolina State University (NCSU) exchange program will establish a new format of academic exchange and training programs for students, both virtual and face-to-face, to develop innovative solutions to food safety issues. The pilot includes a study abroad program for Fatesg students to complete certified food safety training, structuring/translation of food safety training manual, and verification programs required for the U.S. food industries to incorporate new FDA regulations. NCSU students will go to Brazil to receive food safety training and immerse themselves in real food safety-related cases of the Brazilian food industries and receive a certificate from the Alimento Confiável (Trusted Food) Program.
